Beginners
- Did you dance at school?
- Have you enjoyed Scottish dancing at a wedding?
- Are you looking for something new and exciting to try?
If you are looking for a physical activity accompanied by stimulating music that provides enjoyment within a friendly atmosphere, then Scottish dancing could be just what you are looking for.
To help beginners develop more quickly occasional workshops are held. These are invaluable for improving technique and are run by qualified Scottish dance teachers. Please don't think you need to know anything about Scottish Country Dancing to attend. There are always more experienced dancers on hand who will be happy to help you.
We are particularly keen to welcome and encourage beginners to Scottish dancing. Wherever you are in our area, you will be able to find a group or a class that will welcome you.
You do not have to be Scottish, or have a partner. Single people and couples, young and not so young will all be made very welcome.
The only things you will need to start with are a pair of lightweight, soft, flat soled shoes without heels. When you become more experienced, you may want to try “ghillies”, a lightweight, relatively inexpensive, shoe specially designed for Scottish dancing.
Wear comfortable clothes in which you can move easily. Even in winter you quickly get hot dancing, so you may want to have layers that you can remove.
We look forward to seeing you!
